Wiring Camera to Tail Light question

Installing a rear camera to my 2011 Ranger XLT Supercab 4x4
Every thing is in except when I went to tap the back up light
both wires on the socket are the same color. What is the correct
way to make sure which side is the 12v. Once I determine that
do I just connect both wire to the socket wiring or do I run
the ground to the frame or somewhere on bed.

Thanks. Going to post this is two forums hoping to get a quick answer.

Where are you "tapping" the Reverse light power?
In the dash?
At the transmission?
At the tail lights?

What color are the wires?

At the tail light bulbs there should be a Brown/yellow(12volt) wire and a Black/yellow(ground) wire
So look similar, both with yellow stripe but Brown one only has 12v with trans in Reverse with Key on

I doubt they're the same color. They're probably both covered with so much dust and grime.

You mention 'both' wires. Are you referring to the wires going to the lamp, or does your camera just have two wires?

I want to thank everyone for their replies. Used my voltmeter to make sure which one was
the 12v. Again thanks!!
