Disclaimer:No this is not another thread about how to get the factory shift **** off

It was really hot the other day and my shift **** popped off while I was driving. No problem, it is old and ugly any way. I got a new one from the dealership and was just wondering how to install it. Just press it on as hard as possible? Dont want to break anything, so if anyone has any advice...pics to come

On another note, anyone know where to get door panels besides the JY? Do they have them at the dealership, I didnt think to ask.

Oh and I drive a 93 2.3l 2wd

 

Try LMC for the door panels.

I think the shifter **** is held in with glue from the factory. I'm not 100% on that though.

Being that your door panels are more than 10yrs old, I highly doubt a Ford dealer will be able to help you get them.

hah, I had my shifter top pop off on me once.. was trying to hold a drink in one hand and shifting with the other (It was a soda.. no.. not beer!) and went to shift on half a corner.. apllied a little of my bod y weight and it popped off. Scared the living crap out of me, its only held on by friction.. take a soft mallet and tap it back down onto it. Should hold like a champ :-) I've had to remove the **** on many occasions when I was doing my body lift and had to adjust things down there =)

 

I had to brake mine to get it off.

I would've gotten an after market shift ****. The stock ones are just plain ugly IMO.

 

find me a decent looking aftermarket ****. (other then the billet *****.)

if your saying the fugly ***** they sell at autozone look better you have issues.



as for getting the new **** on, get a rubber mallet and tap it on.
mine popped off once, i put some electrical tape around the shaft and beat the **** back on.

 

That would be nice on the Hurst shifter for our trucks.

 

There are tons and tons of aftermarket shift ***** that arent made out of clear plastic with lights and w/e else on them.

I got a cheap Gray and simulated carbon fiber **** for my truck. I got it because it was cheap and the Troy Lee interior already had carbon fiber accents.

I wouldn't mind one of them hurst ones there and that other one IMO is still ugly.... but anyways yea That happens to me all the time (well 1-2 times a month), but im tall enough and my arms are long enough that I actually shift from the top of the boot most of the time...

 

SCREW those T-handles in the winter time...believe me......my chevy when it was a manual, I had a B&M T-handle one it......holy cold *** shift ****.

 

Haha, yeah that metal gets cold in the winter!

 

ive seen ice form on my aluminum B&M t-handle.....

 

Good thing it never gets below 20 around here for the most part. lol.
