Here is where mine is. Its small enough that it doesn't bother my site and seems to work just fine. I might change it later.

Here is what I am thinking of doing.

Down at knee level would be painful in an accident. :(

You could mount it under the arm rest, supside down, or on the back of it

I am 6'3" and this has never been a problem here, if oyu have a stick it may be, the only thing that ever happened is my ex-gf would go to slam on the e-brake and rip it off (it doesnt block the pedal, she just had hre foot in the wrong area)

i dont have a pic as i only have a c.b. in when im off on a trip but when i do have one its in front of the shifter under the ashtray. i had one mounted there in my '88 and had it stolen. since then i only have one in there when im on a trip.i did have a very nice cobra 29 ltd classic. my radio now is a more compact cobra, dont remember the model type. in the '88 i had a speaker mounted under the headliner above the rear-veiw mirror so the i could hear it better. it also had a p.a. horn under the hood. i havent done either with the current truck but i do have dixie air horns.

I have a 60/40 right now, and it's shoved under the middle seat, with the front sticking out just a bit. I only ever monitor two channels anyway so I don't need to see the display. The mic sits in the little coin tray in front of the cupholders on my console.

I don't use my CB enough to make it worth loosing the cab space to a permanently mounted radio. When I need it, I wedge my hand-held on the trans hump between the shifter and the center console. I have a hand-held mike that I drop in a cup-holder. I use a magnetic-mount antenna on the roof of the cab and jam the antenna lead in the weather-seal on the drivers-side super-cab door.

Setup takes about 5 min..

Nope, not like that FordFX...I ment the console, like in the extended cab, with the ***** facing up, I used a gear keeper to reel the mic back in, so I didnt' have to mess with it.

i was gonna put mine in the console like you are talking about but i didnt feel like moving the airbag switch. plus i got a nifty little sub in there. i guess its a rare find i dunno. my mic cord used to bug me but after a while i got used to it hangin on the mirror. it actually stiffins up the armrest with the radion there. i like it its out of the way yet easily accesible
