and also, count me in like Trigger. I cannot commit 100% bc of work, but I will sure as heck do everything I can to be there... summer + beach + camping + friends = priceless

and does anyone know the rules about ATVs? I would love to bring my honda....

I've only been to Carolina Beach and Fort Fisher. Yeah, the sand is pretty loose but I handled it just fine in 2wd. I'm not sure about the sand at OBX.

So you did fine at Topsail, I've been wanting to go out there many times but don't want to get stuck. I'm down there monthly over the summer.

youll do fine just remember if you start to bogg down then let off the gas and slow down don't give it more of the skinny pedal thats how you get stuck. it all really depends on the weather. most of the time you can ride right along the water line where it is packed in. but you are not suppose to drive between the water line and the ppl parked.

I don't know about my truck on the beach... maybe I will let someone else try it first to see how they do with my truck, but I went out to the N part of OBX - by VA border - and had one HELL of a time. For some reason, my baby just could not handle it. hi or lo didn't make a difference, it just seemed like she was revving really high and working WAY to hard to move. I was pissed..little boys in their factory cherokees were going fine, but for some reason i was not. I have 31x1050s and 4.10...so i don't think that's the problem....

then again I have little experience driving in the sand...any insight or sharp criticisms are welcome haha

ppl air down their tires i have never done that have have been fine. also when you hear your engine revving you are boggin down in the sand and the more you push the gas the worse your going to get stuck thats when you let off the gas and coast till you get back on top of the sand.

I've had my truck out there before and while I was able to drive around out there in 2wd I wouldn't say it's a good idea. Everyone says let off the gas but don't stop! You stop and your stuck. Tires are the big thing with a good tire you'll be fine but with a most a/t's I'd say you'll be stuck before you're done.

tire really has nothing to do with it youll see stuck trucks on stuck tires ive even seen a honda crv out there. and if you feel yourself bogging down just let off the gas a lil

yea count me in, I don't live that far away. But the best thing to do is to air down your tires a lil bit and take it easy on the go juice. most of the time you will be alright. lol
