SO CAL end of july trip....

So i was thinking of going at the end of july since nobody really seems to have a solid date/place for a summer trip. I know its going to be hot but its the desert, get over it and just go anyway! I was thinking Stoddard (not the rocky area) or somewhere not too far so im open to suggestions but im going at the end of july regardless of who goes with me ( Ill have my truck done by then so i wanna go test it.) I was thinking July 24th-26th.

well heres the deal..Meet at peggy sues 7am-11am (or whenever) sharp..Head out on the trail..Camp somewhere along the trail...Then finish the trail the following day...

The first day we are going to hit the trail by calico (Or majority vote i dont care either way)
The second day we are going to barsow (Or majority vote i dont care either way)

Ocotillo was kind of a drive and id like to avoid a looooonnnggg drive but if everyone agrees on ocotillo then im down. But im still voting for the lucerne areas that are not rocky.

Ive been wanting to do the mojave trail, have any of you guys done this? Its a 2 day trip and is something like 50 miles over an old wagon road. It seems pretty cool, probably dont need 4x4 either

I have done the Mojave trail. It is very interesting but you will need someone that knows the trail well or buy a book that gives you detailed directions and other information. 2WD should be able to make it but there are sections that 4WD is nice to have unless there are some washouts or bad areas since I was there about 15 years ago.

If I have the money after buying tires and new shocks I'm down. I'd like to go somewhere new for once so I don't mind if it's not ocotillo/imperial desert area. I never been up north besides little bit of california city. Get a date and I'll set it aside. July 25 seems good.

That barstow run sounds fun. But I'm not the one puttin this together so you point in the direction and I'm there. You can count me in for Stoddard.

So from San Diego anyone know how long it will take me to get there provided I'm not gonna be going over 75, especially up hill? Also I have never been in that area so some directions as to where we are actually meeting would be great once it's figured out. Hopefully we aren't going to rocky area and we can just do some fast tracks for 2wd? or maybe some little hills but my trucks not much of a climber in sand.

Im down for barstow, that sound better than stoddard because its not as rocky and there is a lot of places for 2wd to really stomp on the skinny pedal and go fast. As of now, its between barstow and stoddard. Everyone place your vote and we will take majority.

I vote barstow.
