Icon10 Got my first truck

Wife and I were walking the dogs around the neighborhood the other week, ran across an 1990 Ford Ranger for sale, called the guy asked him what was wrong with it. Guy said, it had a really loud knock after the last time I drove it (scared me off a little) but decided to offer him $900 bucks for the truck after he informed me it only had 46,000 original miles on it and the truck was basically stock (besides new tires, new alternator, starter, and break pads) all done in the last year.

Long story short, oil had not been changed since 2015 (oof) and I noticed when the car started getting up to temp, oil pressure would drop (thought it was just the classic boolean gauge but I checked with a independent oil pressure tool to verify my findings), my first thought was the oil pump is going bad OR the pickup drain is clogged with crap. After some research I found it was possible to drop the oil pan without pulling the engine, and after attempting that, I better understand some of the comments on this form I have read (I would rather slam my nuts in a door than drop the oil pan again). Anyways ended up saying screw that and trying another, less extreme option first to see what results I could get. I ended up draining the oil, putting fresh oil in, adding a sludge remover, changed oil again (every time I change oil, filter goes as well), then changed oil again.... and then again!

Now she runs like she just came off the factory line in 1990! Well... Mostly, engine is running great, she needs a little loving on a few other parts (little leak at the back seal of the oil pan) and a nice bath with some clay bar action and good buffing. Other than that, super exciting having a truck that I only had to shell out all in all (so far) $1200 bucks! I've linked some pictures here, let me know what ya'll think!

I'd say it's a good deal if she quieted down and you're not finding any junk in the oil. I'd probably want to open up the first filter and see what was in it, but that may scare you more than you want. haha.
