Greetings from So. Oregon new member

Hello all, Happy to be here. I've had a 2007 Ranger which I bought new. I now have a 92' 3.0 base p.u. that I use for chores, or when my wife absconds with my car! Truth be told, I just like to drive it. I'm sure the collective Ranger knowledge on this site us off the charts. I enjoy learning ins and outs, hearing different opinions, etc. Have a great evening/day.

Welcome to the forum

I went to the UofO, fighting Ducks, lol.
And then stayed in Eugene after that, was there for 11 years, really liked Oregon

1992 was the last year of 1st Generation Rangers(1983-1992), 1993 Ranger had larger body size, same size until 2011
It will use the EEC-IV computer with OBD1, test port is in engine bay

3.0l Vulcan engine was reliable, but it is a high RPM engine, makes best torque at 3,500rpm, most engines have best torque at 2,500rpm, so don't be afraid to REV this engine, it was designed for that
This engine was made from 1986 to 2008 with very few changes
1992 will use TFI spark system and distributor, TFI modules could get heat sensitive, if you ever have an issue of engine not wanting to start when its hot, the TFI module is most likely the cause

It will have an A4LD automatic or an M5OD-R1(M5R1) manual trans

Gotta watch the rear leaf spring hangers, they will rust out just like any pickup truck

Thanks very much for all the good info. Ron. I live in Roseburg. Which, as you probably know, is 67 miles due South of the Emerald City. We go up there a few times a month to visit Smith Family Books, The Metropol Bakery, or Hawaiian Time restaurant. Have a terrific day, and thanks again for the welcome knowledge!

Welcome, I never have been near or through Oregon, unless you consider SoCal as CLOSE !
Wait, I bought a Tractor from Oregon, no I had that shipped here.

RonD is a good..., great source of technical data on this site, his knowledge base is sometime astounding and along with other talented Ranger owners you should get all the help you need to mod and fix your Ranger.

Good morning Scrambler. Thanks for the greeting. I was stationed back at MCAS El Toro back in the day. It was a great time. My Dad grew up in the Valley back in the 50's. Not being the most mechanically inclined guy on the block, I've definitely benefitted from great resources such as this over the years. Many of the threads are just flat out interesting. If you have a Tractor, odds are, you're a pretty cool guy! Gabe
