Hey folks. I bought a '94 XLT with the 2.3 Lima engine, standard cab and 4x2. It's got 195k on the clock, and it has been sitting for a minute or two. I blew about as much on new tires as I did on the truck, replaced rotors and pads, and even a brake piston. I'm in the middle of a u joint job, after which I plan to replace the tie-rod ends. After that, I'll have to deal with new drum brakes, leaf spring brackets, a leaky transmission, a leaky valve cover gasket, new ignition coils and doubtless many other things.
All in all, it may shape up to be a good little truck. Glad to join, and I hope to learn a lot from you folks!

1994 was the last year of the EEC-IV computer in Rangers, 1995 and up used EEC-V and OBD2 diagnostics.
Your 1994 will use OBD1 and you can get any codes yourself using a short jumper wire and counting Flashes of the CEL(check engine light)
And can also Clear codes using the jumper
The 2.3l SOHC used in Rangers from 1983 to 1997 was called a Lima or Pinto engine.
First used in 1974 Pinto, and was made in Ford's Lima, Ohio engine plant.
In 2001.5 Rangers got another 2.3l this was a DOHC and called Duratec engine, or Mazda L engine, no common parts between these two 2.3l engines.
But some confusion if you Google: "Ranger 2.3l engine", lol, because there were two of them
2.3l Lima was a VERY reliable engine, it did use a timing belt which needed to be changed every 80-100k miles.
