Hey from Pa.
Hey from Pa.
Just figured I'd say hi.
I recently bought a 2000 Ranger XLT 2WD 5spd from my Uncle for $750 since he can't keep the clutch in anymore.
It's dinged up a bit but overall not too bad. I'm now in the process of cleaning/replacing anything that needs it.( Down the rabbit hole I go)
I had been looking for a decent 4WD SUV to keep my tools in but the price was right and it helped him out so, win/win.
Since our yards are connected I didn't have to go far to get it.
I've been working on the Ranger for him since last Fall so he could sell it, never planning on buying it myself so I guess I have a head start on some things.
A couple things I've learned so far about the Ford Ranger:
It's built for smaller people than me.
The driver seat was designed to fail, by some angry individual that doesn't like people of any size.
I think the same angry person was put in charge of cylinder head design. 8 spark plugs, all hidden, on a 4 cylinder, that's just hateful.
Auto Parts Stores seem to think I want parts for a Maserati, not a little pickup truck.
But if I can get my 4th POC (backside) in just the right position avoiding the fully exposed seat back hinge once I cram myself through the micro opening created when the door is open it's actually kinda fun to drive, looks half decent in the driveway even with all its battle scars and didn't cost a small fortune, at least initially.
That's it for now.
Cheers,
Ed.
