New to group, on my 3rd Ranger
Hi Everyone, excited to have picked up another Ranger today, a 1999 extended cab, 3.0/auto 4x2. Pretty clean condition for its age. This is my 3rd Ranger and the oldest one I've owned. I guess you could say I love these trucks. Looking forward to making improvements and fixing it up. Thanks.

1999 Ranger 3.0l was first year of PATS(passive anti-theft system) in Rangers, in 1999 it used a separate PATS module above glove box, later years had PATS in the engine computer(the PCM)
3.0l and 4.0l got PATS, 4cyl Rangers didn't get it until late 2001
1999 was also first year of the 2 wire VR Cam Sensors, previous years used 3 wire Hall effect Cam sensors
You can download the 1999 owners manual here: https://www.ranger-forums.com/genera...1-models-3747/

1998 is first year of Generation 3 Rangers, 1998 to 2012
3rd generation got:
Returnless fuel system running 60psi fuel pressure, 1997 and earlier run 30psi
Front of frame was boxed in on 2WD like it had been for 4x4s
New IFS front suspension on 2WD, no Twin I-beams, used A-frames with coil springs instead, some 2WD models did get Torsion bars like 4WDs were changed to in 1998
