Welcome to the forum.
2002 2.3l Ranger will be the Mazda L engine, 23NS, DOHC 2.3l, Ford calls it the Duratec 2.3l.
I mention this because Rangers had the SOHC 2.3l Lima engine until mid-2001, totally different engine, nothing in common with 2.3l duratec.
Mazda L engine was designed for use in Front wheel drive cars, so transverse mounting.
When used in a Ranger that put an important coolant connection at the rear of the engine, making it impossible to get at with transmission in place.
So if/when you do the clutch, it is a good idea to replace this connection just on spec.
