I inherited a 2003 Ford Ranger from my father-in-law (FIL) about a year ago. Along with the rest of his car collection. It's regular cab 2.3l with 269k miles. It was his daily driver and he took great care of it. This is my Wife's baby now and I'm trying to get it running in tip top condition so it can become her daily driver. The truck had some problems when I got it. The battery would not stay charged, and the check engine light was on. Whenever my FIL had trouble, he took the truck to his nephew's shop. They never seemed to be able to correctly fix any of his vehicles completely and then would offer to buy them once Grandpa became fed up with them. All of this seemed fishy to me, but Grandpa said he trusted his nephew. OK, time or a confession: my daily driver is a Chevy truck since 1995. Please don't hold that against me. We are currently selling the Chevy to make room for the 1960 F-100 from FIL's collection.
