New Member Intro

Just joined here a few days ago. Lots of great information. About a week ago I purchased a 1996 XLT, 4.0, Automatic Supercab. It has 215000 miles and seems to run fine so far. This replaced a 2005 which was just totaled.

A couple of mods I have started on it:

I took the solid back window from the 2005 to replace the slider in the '96(I like the looks of the plain window better).

I ran across a 2000 Explorer at a wrecking yard and got the bucket seats and console. The seats are in and I am still working on adapting the console.

I also installed the instrument cluster with tach from the same Explorer. I'm in the process of troubleshooting a couple of issues with the cluster which I will post in the Electrical section.

Here's a couple pics of the truck and Explorer seats.

Welcome to the forum

Nice looking 1996
4.0l OHV is a good reliable engine, but never let it overheat, PULL OVER!!!

You will crack a head if it gets too hot, over 3/4 on the temp gauge hot

So a $5 leaking hose could cost you hundreds if you "try to make it home", pull over, let it cool off, then drive it a bit more as needed
