pumpin leaking

does the oil in my pumpkin feed my wheel bearings?
I get loud noise after 50 mph and the wheel bearings seem fine, but while changing back brakes I noticed pumpkin leaking fluid and was wondering if that fluid ran to my bearings .
and what is preferred fluid for this truck. What is best method/tools for replacing that fluid.
2000 4x4 ranger 3.0l, also is it safe to jack up the pumpkin?
thanks
