98 Ranger single cab swap to extended cab

I’m a little new to this forum and I thought I’ll try it out. I have 1998 4x2 Ranger with a 2.5l with a 5 speed manual. I was looking into swapping out my single cab to an extended cab for a little bit more room and I was wondering if I needed to fab up some mounts or if they used the same frame for both models.

Any info at all would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the forum

You need a longer frame to put on an extended cab
Ranger frames have 2 sections, front and rear

Rear sections are pretty much all the same, regular cab or extended cab have the same 6ft bed, only exception was "Long Bed" Ranger with 7ft bed, it has a longer rear frame

Front sections came in 4 versions
Regular cab length
Regular cab length with "boxed" rails for 4x4 axle
Extended cab length
Extended cab length with "boxed" rails for 4x4 axle

In 1998 and up these 2 sections are riveted together so you could get an extended cab front frame, grind off the rivets and swap to the longer front frame, and bolt it back together
Then put on the extended cab

But no way to just swap the cabs from regular to extended on existing frame
