Would this engine fit??

Earlier tonight my friend and I came across a 5.4L V-8 that was pulled from an 01 or 02 e-350 box truck and forgotten about (it was in an accident or something.. my friends dad pulled the engine and tranny out, and took the rest of the thing to the scrap yard). it's been sitting in a back corner for a year or so now. the complete engine and tranny are sitting on a skid palette. i was wondering if anyone had any idea how much work would be involved to get it to fit in my truck.. or if it were even possible to do so. would me having a 4x4 cause any problems??

im just looking for any info. on what all would be involved.. what all i'd have to replace on my truck, etc.. its just a thought rolling around in my head at this point.. i can basically have the engine for nothing, so, if it can be done, maybe ill take a second look.

Heh, you would have to replace ALOT!

biggest things would be pushing the fire wall back, maybe even cutting down your inner fenders to fit the 5.4 . See how wide it is?

Fuel lines, you would need the computer for it, cause you cant simply plug yours into it.

Your rear should hold ok. Dont know how much abuse it would take.

um, lets see...
bigger fuel pump, different engine mounts, might not be able to get it to mount up where the SOHC was.

ALOT of little stuff.

Not worth it, sell it and buy a EE supercharger.

If I had a 5.4 V8 just knid of sitting around, I think I would look for a mustang to put it in. I think there would not be a whole lot of work to take a cheap V6 (or GT for that matter) and drop the 5.4 right on in. If you could fine a used V6 or a GT with alot of miles on it cheap you could really have a fast mustang with a 5.4L in there.

As far as it going into your truck I don't think you will find anyone that says its easy. It would be hard enough to get 4.6 into a ranger let alone a 5.4L.

The 4.6 and 5.4 are the same physical size as each other... either would be a major job to do...

4.6 Cobra would be nice if you had the time and money. And Hey if someone put a 6.0 Power Stroke into a Ranger ANYTHING is possible with time and money.

idk i dont think it would be worth it... and that is allot allot allot of power for a little truck like ours or even a mustang to have.... it would be very dangerous...

Not true

The deck height is taller on a 5.4L. Meaning the distance from the bottom of the block to the top of the block where the heads bolt on is longer. I think its about 90 mm or so. That makes it a taller and wider block.

Thats awesome. Thats one of the many things I want. A 302 is proubly less $$$ and time then it would take to get the 5.4L in.

I always wanted a 302 fox too..

Its a dream car. You know you have different dream cars, like i would kill for a Saleen S7, but it will never happen.

The 5.0 is a realistic dream car, one i could afford.

Im getting it Friday
