Icon9 Merc/Dex in a 5r44/55

I recently changed the transmission fluid and filer in my 03 Ranger 3.0 with the 5r transmission and I used Merc/Dex instead of Merc V. Will I be okay or should I drain it and change it? I looked around and couldn't find a good answer, please help!

It will work fine if you drained the toque converter and trans cooler, you don't want to mix fluid types too much.

Assuming it had Mercon V before

Okay Thanks! In that case I should probably drain it, I only changed the fluid in the pan, around 4.5 quarts.

Yes, while it may be fine, mixing different types can cause issues, some additives just don't "play well" together
