Gearhead61 02-04-2009 12:17 PM

How exactly do you plan to fit that monster in your truck?

I see lots of sawzall in your future?

I have a 3" BL, it will fit. You do know its about the same width as a 4.6?

I dont have near the restrictions as a stock truck. its just got to fit under the hood and between the frame rails.

redranger4.0 02-04-2009 12:33 PM

I would cut your firewall and move the engine back as far as possible.

zabeard 02-04-2009 12:41 PM

plenty of room

From a wheeling stand point moving the motor as far back as you can would be a huge advantage.

zabeard 02-04-2009 01:52 PM

yup and that is the plan. i dont want all that weight hanging on the front end.

redranger4.0 02-04-2009 01:55 PM

You would be golden if you could fit about 6-8" of the motor in the cab. Granted you most likely wouldnt be able to use your stock dash though.

seed60 02-04-2009 01:55 PM

Will your new coilovers handle the extra weight? Or are you gonna have to get stronger coils?

its going to be stock on the inside, although i see your point but Nick is also doing this as a 'I can do this' for his business so we are keeping it as close to stock looking as possible.

I think I went a bit too stiff this first time around and the extra weight should help smooth it out.

When I choose my coil springs i went 250 tender and 350 main, I should have gone with a 225 or a 210 on the tender. Or ran a triple which would make it ride smoother on the road.

Fx4wannabe01 02-04-2009 02:21 PM

So beard...is it gonna be a pretty clean engine bay? i mean....not a humongo amount of hoses laced throughout the engine bay, no insane amount of plastics showing and etc?

gumby 02-04-2009 03:20 PM

only one suggestion right now. take the exhaust outside the frame rails. will make your life much easier from what ive seen of mod swapped rangers.

kyledm18 02-04-2009 03:22 PM

what you gonna do with your exhaust on the 4.0?

The only problem with that is they will interfere with slidders unless he can route it above them.
