meh. not that big of a deal. sure hp is nice, but if you run into as good of deals as i have lately, youd swing the same way.
i did however get some work done today..

didnt realize wiring was going to be such a pita...

pulled the engine back out because i need to switch the manifolds and finish up mounts.

also i pulled the front axle because i have it sold. and having the frame lower will make things easier to work on.

kool part about the 205 is that ford and chevy parts are exactly the same. just the case is different. so im taking my 31 spline input ford parts and putting into the round pattern chevy case. then when i find the ford axle, ill swap everything back over to the ford 205.
not a big deal.
i actually got a line on a 79 hp d60 housing. its just housing and carrier without gear or shafts or anything. so ill put the ford np205 in, and run my hpd44 until i get the 60 built up. ill run the d44 with 4.56s and ill probably build the d60 with 5.13s. i can find 5.13 thirds for the ho72 on pirate from a few members so ill prolly go that route once i go with the d60.
also am eyeing some 42" tsls.

new manifolds vs old manifolds..

new manifolds installed..

with these new manifolds installed, i can actually make the both of them sit inside the frame rails. although, im not going to do that because then the engine will sit too low and i will have clearance issues. but needless to say, took care of one headache.
"started" on motor mounts. i spent most of the day jacking around with a broken manifold bolt that i still dont have out. anyway, these motor mounts are at a weird angle. the stock stuff had a kool little plate on the top of it that bolted to the two mount locations on the block but also sits up against the block in another angle. kinda hard to explain but youll get it when you see the pics. well, i didnt want to have to recreate this so i thought i would just ditch all of the mount except this part. getting that rubber off was fun.. pics tell the rest..

this one really puts it into perspective...

ill just make the rest of my mount and weld it to that plate. worked out awesome.
also test fitted the 205. need a clocking ring for sure. no trimming of the adapter needed with the twin stick. im sure ill have to trim once i clock it though..

ended up the day with this...

bad pic i know, but it shows how close i am to the firewall. may have to use the 5 lb mod to get it to go back. only one little spot it stopping it. but i msy just leave it right there...

yea but im not sure if im gonna build it or not. it was just a housing so i may use those c's and build a custom front axle..
i think its the transmission adapter in all honesty. that was originally a 1356 bolted to there.
What kind of custom front axle? You can by stronger aftermarket "C's" if you going cutstom.
There is nothing wrong with a built dana 60 either. if you build it up it will handle anything that 5.0 and 205 will throw at it.

if i do the eaton, i can have it this weekend and start tearing it down. i already know where it is. just havent made up my mind.
if i do the 609, ill probably rock a ruffstuff housing and 60 outers. if i can afford it, possibly some dedenbear knuckles.
either way, 35 spline chromos are in order.
ended up going a COMPLETELY different direction. traded my gsx for a running driving donor truck so i robbed all the parts from it. didnt feel like messing with the 351. too many wires for me. plus it needed more work than i really new what to do with. still a newb on the engine side of things. rockin a 350/th400/241. bring on the hate!
