Looks Good Brian! I may have missed this earlier in the thread, but what motor mounts are you running, I ask b/c that motor is rather far forward.

I was thinking the same thing. These are the homemade plates off The Ranger Station that sit on top of the stock v6 mounts. My waterpump pulley is almost under the core support. I still have the Energy Suspension mustang mounts here so maybe I will lift motor back up and swap em to see how it sits then.

Finally got back to the truck today and got some good progress done.

Since I got the motor in I havent been real happy with the room in front of the motor so I decided to fix that today. The bottom of the core support was all rotted out so me and Dawn grabbed the saw and cut off wheels and went to town.

Cut everything out and made some caps to finish off the openings on the core.

...oh BTW did I say Dawn was making the patches, welding them in and grinding them down?

Now we can move rad all the way forward to make plenty room for a fan.

Now I just need to make some mounts for the rad and to tie the core back together with some tubing.

After takin Dawns Liberty to BundyHill 2 weeks ago and breakin a CV shaft in the woods we are both modivated to get this thing finished now! Gonna be workin on it a little everyday. I have been working 6 or 7 days a week 11 hrs a day since first of the year so my progress hasnt been as swift as I wanted. Putting us back on a normal 40hr week in a couple weeks so then I can spend some real time out there wrenching.

Next couple days I working on pulling motor back out to change the motor mounts to move the engine back a bit more. Needless to say I will have plenty room for the fan once Im done. Then its plumb up cooling system, trans cooler and power steering cooler.

The rad is for a 91 Explorer listed as a heavy duty and was the biggest I could find in town. I believe I got it from Autozone and was around 150.00....its a nice one. With that rad,the Milodon High flow water pump and the 18" Grand Cherokee e-fan cooling should be in check.

oh and I was just bustin your ballz about the running.Actually Im jealous because fat guys cant run!

If you do either look for a 90 that comes with the Explorer d35 up front or if its a 84-89 plan to swap a d35 in or do a SAS because the d28 those have are pretty weak.

At the bottom you can see the factory grommets the rad sits in for the lower mounts.

And a new water fill fitting since the rad is lower than the upper hose. Im using a 17lb cap on the rad and a 13lb cap on the upper hose so Im hoping the system will still work correctly with the puke tank by using a overflow hose from the upper hose fitting to the overflow.

Im mounting a Merkur electric fan on the other side that has its own shroud so I think it will pull plenty of air thru to keep it cool.

Ok finally a update.Got side tracked working on a old tractor project and a bathroom project but now Im back at it. Kinda boring update tonite but things will be movong fast the next couple weeks. My new goal is to have it running by Jan 2nd.

Tonite I got the driveline angle set and figured out how Im making the new trans crossmember.

I got my powersteering, with cooler, all hooked up and the heater hoses ran, upper rad hose made and overflow hooked up.

Ran outa fuel in my heater at that point and I had a small lake on the floor from ice melting off truck so thats it for tonite.

You can also get a sneak peak at the new paint on the hood to get idea on part of the new color scheme.
