Just something to look out for......

I've read some things that said the older linkages 1350 and 1354 up to 97 will not work with the new manual case (02-03) without some modifications. I'm not sure on this because I used the 02-03 linkage but just throwing that out there.

Also you mentioned using the boot/bezel setup similar to what I have. Theres 2 different boots/bezels....the offsets between the 2 shifters are different. Since you're using a different linkage than what I used you might need the boot/bezel with more offset. The boots are the same, but the bezels and floor plates are different. If you could find one of each type I'd grab them both and just use the best fitting one.

Heres some pics of what I'm talkin about if you haven't already seen these.

Mine: found in older rangers and BII's, not sure of the years but up to '92 I believe. Mine is from a 91.

The more offset one, found in the 93-97 rangers.

So what is the main advantage for the manuel t-case over the electric?

Now the differences between the linkages.

Here you can see the linkage bends to the right. This one would need to be modified to work. or move the "leg" from the t-case and flip it around.

Here you can see the linkage on the right is straight with no bends, this is the one i am going to use.

FWIW, its not bolted to the case. I am holding it up to the case.

I don't get it, what are the two different linkages? They are both 1-piece lever linkages, so neither of them were for a FX4 chrome shifter. What's the bent one suppose to be for? The bent one looks brand new, what is the part #?

I was thinking about what to do with the bezel with the 4x4 switch. Make things easier for yourself and just turn the 4x4 switch into something else.

There really isn't anything to put in that large area. New bezel is 23236980956 times easier

Where did you get the two bolts that bolt the linkage to the ext housing? I need the smaller rearward bolt. Do you have the part numbers or did they come with the linkage? Grab one of those bolts for me if you run across it at the JY!

I hope you're asking those questions to Donnie. I don't have a manual transfer case James... Sorry! lol

Although I am learning a lot about them and what's involved in these threads!

One is probably from a 1350 transfer case and one is from a 1354

They are both from the junkyard. I have no part numbers for any of that stuff. I find the linkages all the time at the junk yard in old rangers and BII's.

Ahhh, to live somewhere where they have substantial junkyards. If I'm lucky to find a junkyard within a few hours of NYC, I might be able to find a lug nut.

It would be much appreciated if you can grab one of those smaller bolts, thanks.

I'm guessing you don't find the bottom half of the 2-piece FX4 linkages. Needless to say, if you find 2 of those (I'm guessing you have dibs on the first one), I'll take one of those too. I already have the 1-piece rubber **** shifter (with the non-bent arm).

Haha, yea the stock non-chrome-FX4 shifters and ***** are the worst. That's why I'm bending over backwards to get the chrome. You would think there would be a style shifter that met the two styles in the middle. Are you going to be able to get a matching ****? That rubber style **** is splined & push-on. When you get your chrome FX4 handle, you'll have the same screw-on as your trans shifter.

The trans shifter has 3 little allen bolts holding it on. I go the shifters at napa. Just need to go down there and get another one for the tcase.
