Air bag light and no cruise control
Air bag light and no cruise control
Help! Been working on a 98 ford ranger. Been trying to figure out the constant airbag light. I replaced the worn out cruise control buttons an d only the on off switches light up and cruise doesn’t work. Horn works fine. Went ahead and replaced the clock spring with new one. No change I’ll have to eat that one and it didn’t taste good. Any ideas
Here is the 1998 cruise wiring
Several things can disable cruise, like brake pedal sensor, part of brake light switch, and brake light switch as well
Clutch switch if manual trans
The buttons lighting up doesn't mean anything, just FYI, or horn working, although it does mean the ground is working, and cruise buttons send ground signal back to controller in engine bay, to activate it and change settings
Does the Cruise ON light on dash work?

Airbag light
Thanks for response. Yes speed control flashes on dash continuous not to concerned with cruise more with airbag. Before I replaced the worn out cruise switches there was no flashing speed control light. Don’t feel comfortable with that continuous airbag light. Worried about a uncaused activation
Google: ford airbag fault codes
The SRS(airbag) light will flash the code number of the fault detected
Once you have the code you can see why light is on
Google: how to clear ford airbag codes
May be fix and never cleared itself, if not it will come back on, but at least you will know or may get a new code, there can be more than one code present

Headed towards the srs control module. From what I’ve read they need to be reset after a crash. After further investigation Looks like the drivers door has been replaced. Has anyone gone through the reset process? Found companies that will reset the original module. Vs new and has to be programmed after purchased to match vehicle. Going to run with it for now. Going broke trying to fix.
