Title Changes

Not sure if this has ever been suggested, but I know on some of the other forums I go to, we have the ability to change the title of our threads. It useful especially with project threads and what not as you can put a quick status in the title. For example:

Project Lil' Yellow - Disassembled Fenders
Project Lil' Yellow - Finished Painting

I know you guys put a limit on how old of post you can modify which I believe is the issue since the Title is maintained in the first post (I think). Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I think it's a good idea, but feel free to do with it what you will.

I think that is a custom? But I am not 100% sure. If you would like a title change PM a mod or admin, we would be happy to change it for you.

I don't think its custom, it should be in the forum settings. It's enabled on multiple forums I'm on.

Indeed. Ever since I have been here I have wondered why there is such limited abilities for the thread starter. Most forums allow you to edit posts forever and you can change titles. That would also help in the classifieds where people forget to add their location. In some forums you can even moderate your own threads to some extent like delete posts (but not edit them) and ban people from the thread even.

The time limit for editing a thread title can be changed. It is a message posting and editing option in the admin cp. It was limited for a reason though, just don't remember what it was.

Old members would come back and delete all the information out of posts because they were mad at the site.

Not sure if thats still something we need to worry about though.

Yes people could not handle the power so it had to be limited.

thats kind of like how I posted a part out thread for my parts truck, like a week or two later I couldnt edit the original post anymore, so I was pretty much screwed on updating. so I had to put stuff at the end of whatever page people posted to. it sucked.

^same thing happened to me. I just closed the thread. Maybe make it possible to edit our own classified threads only?

yes it is not ideal but its better than having a bunch of missing information or misleading info.

The classified area is designed to have one item per thread. You only have a problem when you list more than one item per thread.

Simple solution, just start a new thread.

true, but seeing as I had a whole truck worth of parts, I didn't find it necessary to make a thread for each individual part.
