hey all - just got our motor rebuilt and assembling top end to reinstall.

changed o-rings and cant for the life of me get the injectors to seat properly into the head - any suggestions? we have lubed them up, but still no luck. At this point we have ruined two new o-rings - they keep getting cut on the hard edge of the injector hole

 

Wrong o-rings maybe?

There is also an adapter used in the hole, then injectors with o-ring, the adapters usually stay in the hole so may be fine

hey Ron thanks for the reply! we just got the motor rebuilt - doesnt look like I have the adapters that your referring to! that makes sense because the injectors felt like there was too much 'slop' between the rail and the head.

heres a pic of one of our heads; you can definitely see no adapters - ordering them up tonight. Makes way more sense now! thanks again

The o-rings fit in the adapters not in that smaller hole at the bottom

I just installed 6 injectors today on my 2003 4.0 with no real problems. With a little presser at least 2 fingers and it pops right in. Has a little flex after installed. You may want to check if you have the right replacement.injectors.
