Icon9 Help: 2019 Ranger wildtrak 2.0

Hi,

There is a knocking sound in the cabin when the truck is idle or at low speeds. Knocking sound goes away when driving. It sounds like something is knocking just between the engine bay and behind the dash.

Video attached and photo of a pipe in the hood where when I hold it to reduce the shaking, the cabin knock noise goes away.

It has been like this for over a year. I've take the truck to Ford and they replaced the shock absorbers under the engine (I think) but the noise remains.

Your help is much appreciated if you have also encountered this problem!

If I hold this with my hand to reduce the shaking, the knocking sound in the cabin goes away

Welcome to the forum

We are in North American so could never get your T6 model Rangers here

Try Australian Ranger Forums

Reads like you have a low RPM misfire causing a vibration, and they replaced the motor mounts to lessen vibration
Those are the heater core hoses, so heater core may have come loose, it usually has foam tape holding it tight inside the cab
Might just need to shim one hose nipple where it goes thru the firewall to stop the noise

Thanks for the reply. We don't have heater climate control here so I don't think that is it.

btw, could you elaborate on what you mean by 'shim one hose nipple'? You are right about it being the heater core.

Push a small piece of flat plastic next to one of the nipples to push it up/down or left/right to stop it from rattling

ok thanks I think I slightly get the idea. But is the hose under the hood (circled in red in my photo) where it connects to the wall is where I find this nipple? Or is the nipple under the steering wheel / dash somewhere?

Hoses are connected to the metal nipples of the heater core, that's probably what is rattling, metal nipple against metal firewall

Should I try to insert the plastic from inside the cabin or from the outside under the hood? Much appreciated.
