Help with rebuild engine oil consumption

I have a 2000 Ford ranger with a 3.0, the guy rebuilt the engine and stated he put new everything, I drove around and it was consuming too much oil and I’ve done some changing as an EGR and PCV valve. And it continue to consume oil so we thought that the rings did not set properly.

so he rebuilt the motor again put new piston rings again and here we are with it consuming too much oil still and already put under 1000 miles on it. Is it the way I’m driving or is it that he did not re-ring the pistons correctly because I am driving like an old person, I want the ring properly seat

"Consuming" oil would have to go thru the cylinders

So I assume the spark plug tips are blackish?

Rings are not the usual path of oil consumption, intake valve guide seals SUCK oil in if they are not sealing very well
And 3.0l used two different size valve stems, so two different valve guide seals
2000 uses/needs the smaller size seals, 7mm valve stems, 1999.5 and earlier were 8mm

The rings not sealing would also cause lots of Blow-by, with engine running/idling pull out the dip stick, if a lot of air/oil vapor is coming out of the dip stick tube then yes, excessive blow-by in the crankcase

ok I’ll test the dip stick in the morning thanks for the tip

if not having a blow by I’ll see about the intake valve guide

I guess this is considered blow-by?

Very little blow-by, and normal

Are the spark plug tips black?

Its getting a bit of a crust on it, so could be new fresh oil burning

Does exhaust smell or smoke?

I assume vehicle is parked in a place where leaking oil would be easily seen?
