Video attached.... Erratic popping/rattling noise from engine. Firing Order is correct, no codes, and good spark plugs. Not sure it the sound is a loose timing chain or piston hitting the valves. Please help...

3.0l Vulcan engine never had timing chain issues, doesn't even use a tensioner
But it does have roller lifter valve train which can have issues, very rare but known

I would remove the valve covers and check the push rods, rotate the crank thru 2 full cycles, remove all 6 spark plugs first

 

it could be spark knock my old 3.0L engine at 178k miles would spark knock an rattle really bad under load if I ran e85 gas in it it would stop it wouldn’t spark knock an rattle I got a new long block for my ranger when I took my timing cover off my old engine the timing chain had so much slack in it my guess the engine couldn’t time it’s self right with all that slack witch would make it rattle under load I’m sure that old engine would of made it to 200k with a worn timing chain if I still just ran e85 fuel in it
