My Life is Over (Kill Me Now) - BENT Bulkhead/Frame
Hi there everyone,
I took my beloved 80k miles 2011 4x4 xlt off into a ditch at about 20mph. On a dirt road, which I live on. Didn't hit anything, just high-centered on dirt. No rocks, no tree stumps or anything...
This occurred because I have epilepsy. I had been 4 years without a seizure, now I'm back on medication but ANYWAYS....
I wasn't exactly conscious but I didn't think it was that bad... I was wrong. I crumpled the skid plate and bent the front bulkhead, there are now alignment issues and unless I genuinely repair the frame I'll chew through wheel bearings like they were brake pads. I think my foot must've hit the gas when I seized up. I had been going no more than 15mph though...
I'm not really a "car person," I do my own mechanical work out of financial necessity. I'm genuinely unaware about the severity of this situation. Can this portion of the frame be cut/welded/replaced? Is my truck totaled? I have no idea and I'm scared. I generally assume that frame damage is FUBAR territory. I mean, it drives fine, there are no perceivable issues behind the wheel other than a mild misalignment.
Here are some pictures, I figure ranger people will know what we're looking at. The skid plate is removed, we are looking at the bulkhead on the front end... It should be square, now it is appropriately a frowny-face
Thanks for any input...
