HAIL Carnage...

LOL, all of you are pretty much wrong.
1st. It will not be totaled
2nd Paintless dent CAN fix a dent that is on a curve/ridge
3rd Stop looking at other cars because yours IS not totaled
The hail storm we had a couple weeks ago damaged by buddies Silverado, he had more then what you have. They replaced the hood and then paintless dent fixed the rest, even the ones in the curve/ridge. You cant even tell, we were both skeptical as well, but you honestly cant even tell.
Oh, if you havnt already called, call your insurance company, you can/will get a new roof for your house because of the hail.

But really, my guess is they aren't going to total it.
And if they do for some odd reason, you're really looking at v6 mustangs and chargers? Buy a used GT or something. That car is ugly and worthless.

now cody, don't you think your jumping the gun a little early on the job? my jub sucks *** too, but i have stuck with it for the past 2 years... gotta give it a chance... just because you had one bad day doesn't mean its all bad

And my buddy slammed into a deer at 70 with his Tahoe (well, actually, my dad was driving it when he hit the deer, lol), and did WAY more damage then all that hail to his truck, and insurance covered it 100%. He even got a new aftermarket hood and bumper out of the deal.
#56
Not really. He bought his Tundra in 06, the hail storm happened in 06, and it's bare bones (no power options) stock with 110K on the clock. Probably worth about half of what an 06 Ranger would be worth.

I am still trying really hard to total my Dodge in a real accident, cause I really don't want to pay it off. But damn it, all the idiots wait until I'm not driving to get in accidents, and the deer actually seem to be paying attention.

that can be repaired, they wont write that off. i work in a body shop and we have done quite a few hail jobs. the hood, windsheild, belt mouldings (door) and fenders will be replaced, the rest of it will can be fixed with a dent puller and some metal glaze, new coat of paint and your back in action.

I'm glad she posted in here. Marie's '08 was wrecked only a few months after getting the truck. Got an OEM brand spankin' new frame under it, OEM brand spankin' new front body panels...they didn't total hers.

IF it doesn't get totaled I want ALL OEM FoMoCo on it and top notch body work, I don;t wanna make payments on a beat up truck, I'm OCD so I would notice any place they cut corners...
and Rob I got some sleep went in a worked and I'm sticking with it, turns out the ppl I work with are awesome so that kept me feeling decent today...

Is Alabama a state where you can take your vehicle anywhere YOU want to take the truck to? I know in Oregon, insurance companys can only suggest where you take your truck to get fixed, but the shop choice is YOURS. Doesn't matter if it's one of the shops the insurance company reccommended, or one not on their 'preferred' list.
And insurance will probably only cover aftermarket replacement parts, and if those aren't avaliable yet, Ford OEM is what'll be used. It's all about money bro.

I doubt its a total too. The truck is probably gonna book at around $14k still. (i got over 10K for my 04 after it got hit... they dont tank in value as bad as most like to think)
In order to total it, you got to get to around 75% of that cost in repairs. Thats around $10,500. Now, lets break it down a little....
- new hood +refinish time is gonna be around $600. You have to blend into the fenders at extra cost BUT....
- fenders can probably be repaired. hell, lets say they gotta replace them completely. Lets say $400 for each fender plus refinish time. **** it, lets say $1000 each. And we have to blend into the doors... but they need repair work too so...total = $2600
- Doors are repairable. Lets put 6 hours per door body labor and refinish time. $600 per door sounds right. total = $3200.
- Roof! yes it can be replaced. IIRC around 10 hours labor which includes pulling the front and rear glass. You need a new windshield anyway so that overlap helps keep the cost down. 10 hours time plus the part and refinish time is probbaly gonna be around $2000 or so. total $5200
- windshield is around $250. It has to be removed for the roof anyway, so you just pay for the part only. total = $5450.
- Extended cab areas. Labor plus R+I the glass. lets say 6 hours again repair per panel plus refinish. Another $600 per panel lets say. total= $6,650.
- Bedsides! labor plus refinish and lets even set the bed back. Lets just say $1200. Total= $7,850.
Misc parts. new corner lamps, headlamps, belt mouldings and all. you dont charge for labor, because its already included in the repair process. Lets say $500.
Total = $8,350.
Its a rough idea. Itll be close to a total, but i dont think it will happen unless theres a ton of hidden damage.

That does suck.. I have approx 36 dents on my roof, I have replaced my hood, and have dents on every fender and door; but I still can make her shine, and someday when I have the money I'll get them fixed and treat her to a fresh coat of paint
Because you have insurance, Id get it fixed.. I only have the minimum..
