91 ranger 2.3 L sputtering hesitation
Need a little tech help with my 91 ranger 2.3 86,000 miles
I just got it running after it sat for a couple years I've replaced fuel pump and filter after removing tank and cleaning it out. Replaced fuel injectors sea foamed the fuel system and engine.replaced clutch etc. It ran great for a few days and then it started hesitating and sputtering I would be pressing the gas pedal and it would act like it wasn't getting fuel but I would back off the pedal it would keep building speed slowly. But if I pull over shut it down and restart it and it's fine for a few miles then do it again.I have checked all the vac hoses changed the air filter cleaned the throttle. I can not figure out what is causing this iissue.I'm thinking it has to be electrical since it seems fine after I shut it down and restart it. Or maybe the catalytic converter? I'm confused anyone have a clue?

Yes, look at the engine temp with key on engine off when you have the no restart
I think max temp is 270degF or so
No temp would set a code and probably not cause a no start
Also make sure CEL(check engine light) goes OFF when cranking engine over, that means computer is seeing a timing pulse so should start spark and then injectors
No timing pulse = no start
Yes, computer can/does disable fuel pump and fuel injectors to cause a No start, that's what it does if Key in ignition doesn't read correctly in PATS test, but THEFT light will flash if thats the problem, and usually starter motor will not work as well
