92 4cyl starting problem

Hey all, I'm new to the forums, recently picked up a 92 2.3l 4cyl ranger for $500 and it's got a starting problem.

It acts like it's not getting fuel when starting cold, I already changed the fuel filter, checked the fuel pump, it's pumping good, and cleaned the air filter. I am able to get it started after about 45 mins cranking and playing with the gas pedal, and after it's started it runs fine, no sputtering or rough idle.

Any ideas what might be my problem?

Thanks, Josh

It really sounds like a low fuel pressure issue. You know anyone with a fuel pressure gage?

Does the 92 have an in tank fuel pump? If so it is a low pressure pump..that's what just recently happened to my 86. You could also reset the fuel relay switch.
