got a 93 2.3L and my check engine light comes on randomly and stays on for about 2-3 min then goes out, just wondering if anyone has a thought of what it is or if there is a way too get a code without a code reader. Thanks.

this is kind of funny, i have had my truck for 4 years and the check engine light is still on. drives good and has a 2.3 lima in it.

i have kind of decided to ignore the light since an A S E shop owner told me that the error codes from these early computers are so general that they say nothing.

rather than spend a bunch of money on a snipe hunt i am driving it to see what happens.

40,000 mile with the light and still going, changed the fuel pump relay last week for 7.00 dollars.

if you plan on keeping your truck for a long time and doin the work on it your self buy a code reader for about $100 or less depending on what all you want it to do or just take it to a auto parts store and have them pull the code for you
