crap gas mileage

Well long story short I sold my 5.7 Hemi Ram about a month ago and bought a 2001 2.5 5 speed regular cab ranger with the hopes of getting better gas mileage. And I have! I went from 14 mpg to about 16! That's not exactly the improvement I was hoping for however. Its rated at 21-26 and my drive to work is about 5 miles highway and 2 miles surface streets so I don't think 20 mpg should be too much to ask for. Since I bought the truck I have: changed the oil, changed transmission fluid, put in a K&N drop in air filter, cleaned MAF and TB, and changed both O2 sensors. It has 76,000 miles on it so I'm going to change the plugs next. Anybody have any other suggestion of what to do next if the plugs don't improve my fuel mileage?

Yeah I'd be pretty pissed too. Trading in a Hemi for a sewing machine is a kick to the nuts to start with........and since you were looking for better MPG's, I say you got roasted. Hope you get the sewing machine, I mean 2.5L running better.

Lol ya the Ram was way nicer. Power everything and way more room. I want to get serious about saving up for a house though so I made a good financial decision but I need to get this gas mileage problem fixed.

the only thing i can suggest is,,

get a experienced tuner to go over the computer engine program

maybe the former owner has some re-calibrations done to it

( i suggest replacing the 02 sensors ) they are probably very carbon chocked
