Like it says I have a 96 ranger with 2.3 rwd rabs can't figure this out replaced speed censor in diff checked float and fill level in brake fluid now what
When I turn the truck on the lights come on then off then if I press the break bolth ebrake and abs come on. It started after I swaped out my alternator but every thing is good alternator says 14 volts battery says 12 I'm stumped help would be great thanks

 

As odd as this sounds the ABS system power is part of the alternator wiring.

Make sure light green/red stripe wire on alternator is not frayed.
Does charge gauge work?
does is move?
This is the same wire.


Spongy brakes means they need to be bled, there is air in one of the lines.

 

Maby it is just abs not active that gives the spongy feel because it only happens when abs light goes on. The light goes on and break light when I press the breaks all the way also I changed the alternator then this happened I'll check it out thanks it says it is over charging on the dash but multi meter says 14.95

 

14.95v is over charging

Voltage regulator will cause alternator to output above 14volts for a few minutes just after starting engine, this "re-charges" the battery back to 12.3-12.8volts.
Then voltage regulator will drop voltage to the "maintenance level" of 13.6volts
Approx. 1 volt above battery voltage will maintain the batteries voltage/amps.

If you are reading above 14volts at the battery after a few minutes of the engine running then you are "cooking" your battery, fluid inside will start damaging the plates and battery life will be shortened significantly.

Battery voltage engine off, for at least 1 hour, should be above 12.2 volts, 12.2 volts means battery is at 50%, 12.8v 100%(new battery)
At 50% a very cold morning would probably cause a short slow crank or no crank.

Since the voltage regulator "reads" battery voltage and bases alternator output voltage on this, a battery with lower than 12v could cause 14+ volts in the system.

 

Replaced my alternator and no change wires look good at alternator
The strange thing is now my truck tries to die when I brake I pulled a code and it gave me p1441 and p0401 Bolth egr **** but I think it's due to it dieing at a stop the breakers sink to the floor but you have to press them there with force maby master cylinder is bad or air in line but how

 

I was missing a hose from Pcv to intake fixed that I think but abs and ebreak still problem also can't find controll module for it would a master cylinder cause this light and abs light to come on
