HillPrideRanger's OFFICIAL SAS thread
what vehicle is the rear from? and what year?! beefing up a rear axle is a waste of money... buy a dana 60 rear or sterling rear and you wont have to worry about strength.. nor will you waste money on beefing up the nine inch
the only sterling i have found the guy wants to sell it with the 60 front, so would it be worth to forget the 44 and 9" and go 60 and 10.25? even though its going to be a DD for the most part? i know im bouncing back and forth but i want to build it once and not wanting/needing to keep upgrading ya know?
your transfer case outputs on the drivers side..so you would need a new case that would come out on the passenger side. I think thats the main thing but you know theres probably 10 different little things to complete that swap..
Would it be possible to buy reverse cut gears and turn a low pinion passenger drop to a high pinion drivers drop? Just flipp the Cs?
the newer superduty axles are strong as crap but the downfall on that axle are the wheel bearings. very very pricey if those go out..id shoot for a 78-80s kingpin..
when it comes to flippin the axle. I dont think it would be a problem. you would have to weld up the vent and move it to the top so it wouldnt leak out.
Let somebody else chime in to confirm that its the only thing that you would have to worry about..

EB D44 (with upgraded joints and outers), shortened 76-78/79 F-250 D44, Waggy D44, or a Cherokee/Wrangler non-CAD D30 and a Expo 8.8 out back are you best bets on a DD SAS. Anything bigger will be a pain.
D30s are tough though cuz the reverse cut ones are earlier and CAD and leafed and the coiled and non-CAD ones are standard cut so you almost have to buy one of each and piece them together which SUCK. Or just get a standard from a 99ish Cherokee and deal with it.
