u bolts
u bolts
where can i get some decent u bolts made? there is a transport/driveline service shop next to me that does the service of making and bending ubolts. i assume grade 8 rod would be fine to use and im sure its the standard material. would the stock jeep ubolt thickness be ok to use again or should i be using a larger gauge like 1/2"?

i will do, my boss at work actually reccomended them because we do some jobs for their company lol.
im at C.D. Enterprises, a local machine shop in london
do you know if a guy named Terry is still over there? my boss referred me to talk to him first.
I've been into Offroad Addiction a couple times and they weren't a whole lot of help with anything I was looking for. I guess they're more into Jeep stuff though.
I would imagine your bolts now are 7/16". Shouldn't have any issues going to 1/2" but I don't see a need for anything bigger!
Never heard of your machine shop, I worked at Carquest in London so we always just used our own on Wellington South.

ya those guys are something else to deal with, but sometimes they have what i need. id like to go ahead and make my own bolts but we just aint set up to do all the little stuff properly, its such a small shop. for the little inconvienience it would be to get them made im sure its the better choice. i will go with the 1/2" for this application and keep them all a standard size..
thanks for all the info,
thanks for all the info,
i went to the spring shop after work today and gave Terry my measurements. within 15 minutes i walked out with all my new harware for the front and back axles. its all 1/2", grade 8 and should be as good quality as it gets. about $114 for a full set...
