Ok, take this into your head for some thought..

I had those fukin Gorilla wheel lock lug nuts.. Well I broke the key on the first lug nut, so I had 4 more to take off. Hammered a 17mm onto the second one, couldn't get it off.....BUT I had to get that CV shaft changed out so I could go to school the next day..

Mental Image time..
-Jack the truck up with a Hi-Lift Jack from the driver front tow hook.
-Disconnect the upper ball joint
-Disconnect the outer Tie Rod
-Disconnect the ABS wire (i think?)
*Keep in mind the tire/wheel 35x1250 is still attached to the knuckle, the lower balljoint is still attached and the brake caliper/brake line are still in place.
-Fight the axle out of the knuckle
-Fight the axle out of the diff..
-Install new axle, fight all the **** to get it back together..

All while the truck is teetering from the hi-lift and its about 35* in the apartment complex parking lot. You will, NEVER, EVER see wheel locks on any of my trucks after that night, that was some scary, sketchy ****! The truth is, if someone wants your tires/wheels.. they'll have the tools to get the locks off.

Show this **** to your dad.. he'll LOVE the idea of jack stands

We do it all over the great state of Texas.. I've done it to change axle shafts at camp before.

And for what it's worth I pushed a silverado off of FOUR jackstands mounted to the FRAME just by leaning on it. You need to realize the frame is a lot narrower and the truck is going to be a lot higher than it would be on all fours. This makes your footprint much smaller and your center of gravity much higher.... And all it takes is a bump to the side and those stands can very easily start to tip

aka Gildos yellow truck from the previous page..

I might only be 21, and been doing this whole mechanic gig for a few years.. but I've done enough driveway **** to know that 2 jackstands and 2 chocked tires is WAY better than 4 stands.

IF HE IS IN A 4X4 AND GOD FORBID IT DOES FALL OFF THE STANDS (WHICH I DID THE THE TOTALLY WRONG WAY WITH ONLY A JACK I THE MIDDLE... DO NOT DO THAT.... IT BARLEY BUDGED) ITS A 4X4 AND IT SITS HIGH. IF IT WAS TO FALL IT MAY NOT EVEN HIT YOU. WHEN MY TRUCK IF JACKED UP ON ONE SIDE ONLY THERES IS ENOUGH CLEARANCE TO CRAWL UNDER IT ON THE UNJACKED SIDE... JUST MY 2 CENTS

So I think that after the last 4 pages it's been established that nothing bad comes from cranking the torsion bars haha

I gotta get in on this ****...

Notice the boards that I had the jack on to lift the truck by the hitch... Jack fell off the ****er twice before I could get the stands under the frame. (hence why the truck isn't exactly straight on the curb)

It's probably what cause this to happen too...

When I cranked my T-bars, I put the jack under the front cross-member (e-brake on) and just turned the ratchet... didn't have to actually crawl under the truck, just reached with my arm or kicked it good a few times to get it to go (my **** was stuck good, even after WD40)

to simply awnser the question.... NO, les schwab will not turn your torsion bars. however you will have to go see them for the alginment after you get this done

that is to say you pull the stick out of your *** so you can do it. the chances of your truck falling over just turning 2 bolts the same amount, is greater than getting struck by lightning repeatidly and thrown into powerlines like in a moive only to have your hair stand up on end in like an afro esque way whilst your skeleton flashes through your flesh like a light being turned on an off while you have convoltions form the high energy passing through your body and arch ing back to the other power lines.... then you finally hit the ground and your still coherent and able to make thoughts, your hair is smoldering and you have steam coming from your ears and nose.... then you cough and make a perfect smoke ring and say "zoinks" then you have 6 crows come and attack you and leave you pecked heavily. ozzing blood you manage to limp to the nearest hospital and get treated for free...

man up sonny
