hello first forum ive ever joined. could use help
hello, I have been reading information on here since before i bought my first ranger in July of 2020. im trying to buy new wheels and then tires for my ranger but even reading the help on offset and such i am still not very confident in being able to pick wheels. i have the stock wheel & tires on the vehicle but in looking at most aftermarket wheelsand im seeing 16x8 instead of 16x7. i know offset should be 12mm and back spacing 4.5 on my stock wheels but for going to 16.8 i dont know if my offset should be 0mm to keep backspacing the same. Is that a no no if you dont what your handling to change by changing the offset to much on the vehicle. thanks for any help if that explains what im worried about well enough. sorry for improper sentence format if its hard to read(im not writer but will do my best). i did play with a calculatior online seeing that 0mm offset gives the same backspacing on the wider rim dont know if that is right. added pictures to my albums dont know if i should attach here.
I'm not on the welcoming committee but, WELCOME.
You can sorta see how comfortable people are with wheels. You joined a week ago but nobody has answered.
We all know the parameters (diameter and offset) but nobody can execute a purchase decision with confidence.
Too many things pop up. Center hole diameter is important as wheels ride on the hub. The 5 lugs DO NOT progressively center the wheel.
There are good companies which sell steel wheels which fit but here and there you hear stories of hubcaps not fitting etc.
Keep looking at fora and aftermarket truck sites and try to get a feel for their accuracy. Call any seller and listen to their voices.
You may find, as many do, that factory wheels are the way to go for simplicity and clarity.
Also, what year and trim level Ranger did you end up buying in July 2020?

Yes, Welcome to the forum, I missed this post as well
Have a read here: https://www.therangerstation.com/tec..._fitment.shtml
It explains wheel size and back spacing pretty well
You also have to be aware of Center Hole size depending on your year and model, 2WD or 4x4
And brake caliper clearance which is part of back spacing but not all of it
