both allow for larger tires. however, with a BL or body lift you have to get an extension for your shifter if you are a manual and im not sure what else.

of the two, i'd still say pre-keys (pre 08 reindex) and some AAL (add a leafs) are easier.

And the pre-key mod and AAL can get me approx. 2" of lift (like you said earlier in the thread)?

Also, I have an automatic transmission. I wouldn't need a shifter extension.

yea, i think my bars sagged a little so i had to twist them.

https://www.ranger-forums.com/suspension-tech-36/2008s-lower-ride-height-need-get-bottom-70142/

read that, there are a number of members that have done it and have seen results.

this has pics of me stock and after the lift.
https://www.ranger-forums.com/snapshots-69/pre-key-aal-done-pics-inside-122698/
this is with new tires. post 48 has my measurements
https://www.ranger-forums.com/snapshots-69/new-tire-pics-123418/

stock it was 33 front 35 rear. now i'm, 35 front 36.5 rear. that is from the ground to the fender. you might see an extra inch in the front since your truck is new and your bars are not sagging yet.

EDIT: i just saw you have cranked the t-bars already. so you have some knowledge about the location of the bolts and whatnot.

Alright, thanks for the info.

I'm not sure I'm gonna do anything yet, I have a bunch of other things to keep me busy for a while. Just getting some info. Thanks for the help!

Thanks, even though I've been here for a year haha.

Pretty well everything I've done to my truck has happened in the last 2 months though.

Hey guys, I have 1 more question.

Without a lift of any kind (tbar crank has been done), a 265/75R16 should fit right? It's a 31" tire.

It'd fit fine lol. One guy on here said his 265s fit and rub on full turn and I say my 285s rub at full turn also but u don't need to turn that sharp lol

It might be a little stuffed and limit off-road capabilities but yea I'm pretty sure it'll fit.

Should fit, it would prolly be like the 2007 and older guys running 33s with no lift.

you have to remember 2008+ are about 2 inches lower than previous rangers. 265/75 would be the max id wanna run on 08+ without a lift.

Thanks Chris. I was looking for a straight answer lol and I got one. A lift will come in the future for me, but for now I'll have to settle for a t-bar crank and bigger tires. I don't do a whole lot of off-roading, so it's not a huge deal for me (yet).

Alright, thanks for the input! They don't have 275/70R16's though, which if I can fit the bigger tire, I will.

Just FYI you are not going to find alot on 275/70/16s its kind of an odd size. 31/11/16
You will prolly save some money with a 265/75/16 as it is more common it is just about a .5inch taller and .5inch narrow than your 275s.

And if you want a tad bigger, everyone and their dog makes a 285/75 R16

And I gotta agree about the Generals. They are the exact same thing as the BFGs and $40 a tire cheaper. The only thing I like more about the BFGs is the white walls.

they are not quite the "exact" same thing. The Grabber AT2 has a 2 ply sidewall where as the BFG is 3-Ply. The tread is a tad bit different though, but extremely close

I\'d like to get the 285/75R16s but I have the 2010 4x4 so I\'m already lower than the 4x4s before 2008.

How tight of a fit would 285\'s be on a 2010 sport 4x4 with just a tbar crank?

285s on stock 2008 fx4 with tbar crank. They are pretty stuffed.

It is very stuffed. Over speed bumps I have to slow down and that is not what a truck is for.

It looks really good like that IMO, but it is stuffed. I need my truck to be a truck. 265's it is.

His tires are tall, not wide. 265 and 285 is the width of the tire, not the tallness. He probably has like some 65 to 75s on his. You can get a 285/60 and it definitly wont look that stuffed

I don't think I've ever seen a 285/60. I think 31's will do me good for now though. Once I get a lift, I'll get 33's.
