2.3 EGR

How many hours to replace a EGR on a 2004 Ranger 2.3 5spd 2 wheel drive? My mechanic told me $780, I think this is way to high, All data says 1.5 hrs is this correct?
Thanks Charlie

2002-2011 Ranger has the 2.3l Duratec engine, nothing like the earlier Rangers 2.3l Lima engine, which would be 1-2 hour job

2.3l Duratec in a Ranger means transmission should be pulled out to get access to EGR system, so more like 4-5 hour job
You should also change rear coolant fitting and hoses at this time

I would say all data or other "labor time" sites are either confusing 2.3l engines or vehicles, the 2.3l duratec EGR in a Ford escape would take 1-2 hours since engine is mounted sideways
The Ranger is the only vehicle that used the 2.3l Duratec in a longitudinal mounting, so EGR is next to the firewall and there is no access from engine bay

Yeah thats going to take some time to replace LOL

While you're at it if your heater crossover/bypass tube has leaked and not been replaced yet, you should do so while its apart.
