1998, 3.0L,Fuel Pump Wiring

Hello,
Hope all is well with you !

On another Ranger Site, a friend has a problem with a fuel pump wiring issue.
1998, 3.0L, XLT

Can not determine what these wire, held in hand, go to ?

Have a look at the bottom of the diagram below

Shows the 7 wires used at the fuel tank
4 for the pump and fuel level sender

then 3 for the EVAP systems pressure sensor

RonD,
Thank you for taking the time !
I'm still confused about the yellow wire, I tried to trace it out and there doesn't appear to be a separate unit where these wires would go.
Must be just me and reading the schematics.
I will take a little time and run these wires.

There should be a 4 wire connector for pump and sender
Then a separate 3 wire connector for EVAP pressure sensor

Have a look here: https://partsavatar.ca/1998-ford-ran...SABEgLS2vD_BwE

Click on the connector photo

Yellow wire is for the sender, should be on the 4 wire connector, but on the truck wiring side, the fuel pump assembly wire can be any color if its 3rd party

Ron,

Look at the pic I attached.

The YELand the Black wires have broken pieces of, what looks like, plastic pieces !

What could possibly be in that area with Plastic Connectors ?

Scratching Head at this time !

Thanks again !

Yellow and black are the 2 wires for the sender, 5v pulsed, and black is ground

No reason I know of to tap into them unless some one was going to add a 2nd gas tank, then that's where you could install a switch/relay to check level in 2nd tank and it would show it on the dash gas gauge

Good thoughts, appreciate it, thanks !

I will forward your info to him !

The 2nd Tank idea sound solid; I would guess that being the problem, it was probably giving the previous owner trouble, so they removed a relay or something along that lines.
Never thought of the two tank theory.

RonD Thanks.

If possible, can I get a copy of the pages on each side of the one you PM'd.

I had a hard time saving the schematic in a .jpg format, if you could save it to that format it would help me a lot.

I can PM my e-mail !

Thanks / Ltr
