Has anyone had problems finding a lower radiator hose for this year ranger? Even the original hose I removed (the hose is 16 y/o) appeared to have kinks in it (alarming sized kinks) like it didn't fit right. I bought a new hose from a reputable car quest and it fits the same way with kinks in it. Has anyone ever had radiator hose issues like this one. I compared my original hose with a drawing of the factory hose at the local dealer and it appears to be the same hose. Is there a ford mechanic out there that encountered kinked radiator hoses on 3.0 l rangers before?

Short end goes to the engine, long end to the Radiator.

 

Kinking is usually due to the fact the hose may be too long,, either at the radiator or water pump side. I have ran across quite a few that I've had to trim a bit to fit properly. Also, the orientation of the hose must be proper for an "unstressed" fitment, so you may have to rotate it some before you give it that final push on to the openings.

I have seen this several times. Some aftermarket hose makers will intentionally make them slightly longer and you can trim them to your exact length needed.

 

That's the hose. The kink occurs in the long end going to the radiator. Right below the small hose.You can only twist this hose so much because the small dia hose must connect. It's seems there should be an additional bend molded into this hose. I'm completely stumped!

 

When I said twist this hose I meant orient, turn this hose.

 

Can you get a picture of the kink? When I did my wife's I used a Gates hose and it fit perfectly. No kinks or unusual bends. If you trim a little off the long end will it still have the kink you see?

 

Thanks ya'll for the input. After lots of hose trimming If finally got the hose on fairly straight. The car quest lower hose is actually 3 hoses, a plastic "T" and 3 hose clamps holding it all together. I couldn't see the hose clamps at first because they were covered by these thick rubber bands and the hose angles were facing wrong. Not knowing that I tried to install it as it was handed to me and got that massive kink. I ended up dismantling the hose and installing it piece by piece trimming the hoses (easier said than done). and getting the angles right. All that to replace a hose and thanks to everyone for the advice.
