2005 Ranger 3.0 V 6 - Flywheel

Does the the flywheel need to be resurfaced, see attachment, as this will be mated to its original 5 speed manual transmission or can it be cleaned up. The flywheel does not have any irregularities, or

pitting only surface rust as it sat in the garage for a period of time and it has never been resurfaced. What are your recomdations gentelmen?

Resurface it... Trying to clean it up with flap disc or grinder can result in uneven surfaces and or slipping clutch. It takes less than an hour to resurface a flywheel. While you have that out, replace the pilot bearing. I had to get my pilot bearing replaced at 150k miles because it seized up. From the look of that clutch, if it's over 150k I would replace it as well.
