Welcome to the forum

Reads like you have air in the system
Are you losing coolant?

If not you could have bad radiator cap or clogged up Overflow tank.
When coolant is heated up it expands, thats where pressure in the cooling system comes from.
Radiator cap has TWO valves, larger one is rated at 14psi, when pressure in the cooling system gets to 15psi larger spring is pushed open and hot coolant is sent over to overflow tank(hot mark on the tank)
As the coolant cools down the smaller valve in the radiator cap opens and SUCKS coolant back in from the overflow tank.

If smaller valve fails to open or overflow tank is clogged up at the bottom, then coolant can't be sucked back in, so pressure gets in to negative numbers and it WILL suck in AIR from anyplace it can.
So you end up with air in the system, and it collects at high points, which are Heater Hoses, and so you can hear the "gargles" in the heater core when you spin water pump faster, i.e. step on the gas

Head gasket issue will cause overheating, for sure, will also cause Overflow tank to fill up with coolant, even when engine is cold.
And it does pump air into cooling system, that is what causes the overheating, too much air and not enough coolant in the system
