1994 3.0l used a distributor so doesn't have a Crank sensor on the front engine cover and tone wheel on the crank pulley
2001 computer needs Crank sensor signal or it won't start spark or fuel injectors
Picture here: https://www.ranger-forums.com/2-9l-3...t-leak-153244/
To the right of the circle is the crank sensor, it "reads" the "gear" on the back of the crank pulley
This signal tells the computer the timing of the crank so it can spark the plugs correctly, so VERY important sensor
You need to swap front engine covers to get this sensor in correct place and used the 2001 crank pulley

yes, I did all that; I changed the timing covers changed everything the forums said to say buts it out time.

What if you spray fuel into the intake, will it start /fire?
Does CEL(check engine light) come on?
That means computer is powering up, no CEL = no spark and no fuel
If it doesn't start after adding fuel manually then computer doesn't know you want to start the engine, no crank sensor signal
Or coil pack is not powered up, test red wire on coil pack, should have 12volts with key on, if not fuse #19 in the CAB fuse box is blown, 25amp
As said Cam sensor is used after startup to better time fuel injectors, for lowest emissions and best MPG
Crank sensor is the big Kahuna of sensors, its the base timing sensor and tells computer to start spark and injectors
