Hello, Have a 98 ranger 4.0 ohv with a 5r55e transmission. Someone has told me this transmission can only be replaced with a 98 ranger 4.0 ohv 5r55e transmission. Does anyone know if this is the case? If not what will work?

 

You can use a 1998-2000 4.0l Ranger or mazda B4000 5R55E trans, or a 1998-2001 explorer 4.0l 5R55E trans, 4.0l OHV or SOHC doesn't matter, same bolt pattern

MUST match either 2WD or 4x4 no conversion for that
