So the problem is I can't fit my dipstick tube down into the hole it's supposed to go. I read someone said the dipstick has to go through the engine mount but at first it goes in but it stops when the tube gets wider, and I cant find another hole to put it in this is a 99 ford ranger 4.0 ohv does anybody have any pictures or ides where it could go?

 

Are you the one who pulled the dipstick out?

Assuming you found the dipstick tube....when it stops back it out just a bit (1/4") and try rotating the stick. This might allow the metal ribbon (the dipstick, in other words) to bend the right way and find its way down the rest of the tube.

Put dipstick in the tube
Then try putting it in the hole, there is only the one hole
The end of dipstick will go into the hole first and then guide the tube down to the hole

It is a tight squeeze and you do need to turn it back and forth once tube is in the block
It should go down until you can bolt the tube to exhaust manifold's threaded hole
