Poll: Flowmaster Super 40 or Flowmaster Super 44

Hey.

Finally doing my duals aka redoing the exhaust for like the 5th time. lol.

Super 40 or Super 44?

I have had a magnaflow, dynomax, super 40, glasspack, and currently an original 40. Really like the Super 40 with a tailpipe, not dumped. Just wanna see what ya'lls thoughts are.

(and please, non of this "go bassani or magnaflow or borla" crap)

I've run both on my 302. The 44 was LOUD! My set up is dumped so that doesn't help, but in comparison the 44 was louder and deeper sound. I found it really droaned on the freeway. Also the 44 was louder in the cab than the 40 was. If you have cats and enough bends in the exhaust system the 44 should sound pretty good. BTW there is an offroad version of the Super 44 that is made out of black diamond plate that is pretty sweet.

I've heard both of these... and they both sound Ghetto/White trash to me. I dont know why you'd wanna make that much noise. Personally i like the sound of the Magnaflows... nice rumble, nice note, with none of the "HEY LOOK AT ME, IM MAKING NOISE, DURR"...

Just my 2cents tho.

^^I know....i'm not offended. But.....imo....magnaflow sounds like ***. on a mostly stock exhaust system...on a full blown header back setup...they sound really good(Zabeard for example)

Super 40 IMO. When I go to redo mine when money allows, I'm gunna do JBA Headers out to a 2.5" pipe into a Super40, dumping out a 3" tip out the bedside. Larry has a similar setup with a hi flow cat on his, but isn't running out the 3" tip. It sounds like a quiet 302 at idle, but when he wraps it up, you can hear it's a 6.

This sucks....i'm still so darn torn here.

I'm thinkin' I aughtta just do the Super 40 again...as i loved it before(with tailpipes) Super 40 is far too rattling when dumped. lol.

It looks like the 44 would be louder. I wonder if Corsa makes a kit for Rangers? My dad has a Corsa kit on his truck and its pretty quiet unless you step on it, then its loud and sounds good.

Not to get off topic but could you link me or PM me the link to what you were using before to dump your exhaust? (the clamp and turn down)

No prob...i'll hack my own thread...why not. lol.

Bought the clamps from Summit or Jegs...can't remember. Bought the turndown from a local autoparts store. The turndowns are all made to fit OVER exhaust tubing....not inter a muffler....so i cut the "expanded" part and made it work.

This is the setup at one time...

Here's the current....

I have an original 40 and love it. Sometimes it's not loud enough and some times it's to loud lol. I'm thinking about going super 44 this next time.

Ill let ya know. I am getting a super 40 si/do 2.5" pipe with 3" tips next week. A friend has this setup on his 03 FX4 and it sounds really good. Its just a tad quiet but still has a deeper sound throughout the rpm range than the original 40. I plan on cutting off one of my 4 cats to make it a little bit louder.

HAHA...yea....funny story. So i got this $30 off $100 from summit, and still have yet to order. lol....I'm really leaning toward the super44, then again, wtf, i'll just order both and do the whole swappy swappy whenever i want. lol. I do however, have the super40 in my possesion, probably going to order the 44 here soon.

I'd do the 40. I just love how both mufflers are described in the pics as "the most aggressive, deepest sounding"

Hey Paul, will you take a pic of your rear cat pipe thats after the Y-pipe and before the tailpipe coupler? I heard a rumor that you only have one cat there where i have two.

I believe stock tailpipe size is 2"....at least mine was.

Thanks man. I'm going to have a rear cat delete pipe made soon, i'm just curious cuz i read that somewhere. And funny thing.....07's only have two cats at the Y-pipe..after that is just shiny straight piping. I think i can get away with it come the bi-yearly DEQ test.
