Weird engine noise.......

I noticed a few days ago that my truck started chirping. I know it's coming from the engine bay. It does it no matter what gear I'm in and it occurs at any speed including idle but it's hard to hear it above 55mph. When I first turn on the truck you can't hear it but when it runs for a minute or so it starts in. It can be heard in the cab too. It isn't constant either. It'll chirp, chirp, chrip almost sounds like crickets? It's hard to explain. My guess is that it is belt. I'm not sure thogh. Since it's still under warranty I'm going to bring it to Ford and see what they say. If it is just a belt I'm going ot have my local mechanic fix it up. I've heard that gatorback makes great belts. It might just be from all the wheeling which consists of everything; including mud, sand, snow, dirt and water. Any ideas? Thanks

my guess would be a squeaky belt, spray some slick 50 in there and see if that does the trick.

Yes it can be replaced. First spray some wd 40 or some kind of lubricant into the pulley and see if that helps. The squeak should go away but it will come back again later.

Could be your AC compressor is leaking oil onto your belt, I had the problem where my belt would squeek at random and they replaced some parts on it, I dont remember exactly what.

Ok checking all data they say there was a service bulletin about the A/C shaft leaking which is what my problem was, it leaks freon/oil onto your belt giving it the occasional squeek.

I put wd40 on the belt and it really didn't do anythign at all. I went and bought some belt spray that is supposed to help stop noises. That stuff just made it worse. I decided to go and buy a Gatorback belt. It was put on and so far it's sounds normal. If it begins to squeak soon then I'll check out the bulletin about the a/c shaft leaking. Thanks for all the help.

Sorry to bring this back, but is there an update on this one? My trucks doing the same thing and I thought it was the tension pulley. Did buying a new belt fix it? Or did you replace the tension pulley too?
