well im going to check the relay today and if thats not the problem i talked to a shop on a main road around here that always is busy as can be with all kinds of diff cars. Guy knew my truck (like everyone else) from seeing it drive by and was intrigued when i told him it had a 5.0 in it. so thats awesome news. so if all fails tonight ill tow it into him in the morning.

Well I swapped the starter relays with other ones under the hood with no avail. so towing into the palce is my option. hope it doesnt cost me an arm and a leg.

well heres the latest. Truck got fixed last tuesday buy that place. not bad only 120 bucks. some wiring under the hood had wiggled itself into bad contacts. other than that she runs fairly good again. not start issues or voltage problems. still eating gas like crazy and throwing rich codes. so thats about to drive me nuts. imma have to take it back into them to see if they can spot anything. going to work on it this weekend to track down the charcoal canister and fuel vent line possible problem.

I probably shouldn’t open my mouth because I am not sure why I did this, way back thing.
Near the throttle body, toward the rear, there used to be two 10-pin connectors, in the 93 EFI Harness. These connections were always giving me trouble, engine idle through the “Throttle Positioning Sensor”, and something to do with the EGR Valve that I didn’t use.
A friend and I took the connectors out of the picture, cut them off soldered the wires together, all better.

Remember the harness was a ’93 Stang EFI, (not sure if the newer EFI Harnesses have the connectors) and this was in an ’88 Ranger STX, no major computer problems, no hassles in wiring anything, simple straight wiring job but I did have idling problems for a while and I think it fixed it.
This idea may not have any reference to a 2000+ Ranger/5.0L Wiring or to your problems but I am just thinking out loud and remembering my 5.0 Swap from a few years back… quite a few years back.

So interesting new discovery. Lately like i mentioned my truck has been running pretty darn good, except still running lil rich and burnin a lil too much fuel. Well I realized another "clue" to what might be wrong.

#1. When i fill up my tank it does that loping stall thing at idle, not cool. but when i burn through about a 1/4 tank it goes back to runnin smooth and idling good again.

#2. still having start up issues on the 3rd and more start of the day. so that is still wierd

probably going to take it in one day this week or next. Its gonna be worth it just to have them fix it with all the extra gas money ya know.

So what kinda mileage are you getting then? Also you didn't mention if you got anything hunting in tenns. Theres a picture of a pretty nice whitetail, and just wondering. Truck looks really good.

I still think this could have something to do with the evap system - canister, hoses, VMV. Recheck all hose routing to the VMV and canister and make sure that the canister is venting and not plugged somehow.

Well i dropped it off this morning and already have my answers. one is fixed the other isnt.

#1. Crappy Re-man autzone MAF> replaced with FORD part, apparently solved alot if issues.

#2. Fuel Pressure is 75psi at the rail!! so its basically flooding itself.

Thats why it delayswhen i refill and its reading rich and eating gas..

Why is the presure so high?? anyway to fix without install a fuel pressure regulator??

75psi is above factory spec (57~73) but only slightly, could even be pressure gauge error. That's not enough to make it run pig rich and shouldn't make any difference at all at different fuel levels as yours does.

fuel pressure regulator is worth its cost. it must be a problem with the pumps regulator. Having proper voltage readings from the maf is definately important.
